This Annex to the Java SE 18.3 Specification contains drafts of the Java SE 18.3 Editions of The Java Language Specification (JLS) and The Java Virtual Machine Specification (JVMS).

The drafts for Public Review include corrections and clarifications made to the JLS and JVMS since the Java SE 9 Edition, that is, since the Final Release of JSR 379. The drafts also integrate the specification of Local-Variable Type Inference from JEP 286. The changes are highlighted with with change bars and colorful text, as follows:

• Bright blue text indicates a modification of material in the Java SE 9 Edition.
• Red text indicates new material in the Java SE 18.3 Edition.
